28.09.2025 Bush

After the very disappointing start, I was now hoping for improvement. I still remembered Bush from the '90s and was really looking forward to their performance. Founded in England in 1991, they reached their first career peak in the late '90s with their alternative rock sound, riding the wave created by Nirvana. Since then, they had somewhat disappeared from my radar, though they remained consistently productive.
Of the original lineup, only frontman and singer Gavin Rossdale remains, joined by Chris Traynor on guitar, Corey Britz on bass, and Nik Hughes on drums. From the very first second, the audience was fully engaged, and all the musicians ensured the energy stayed high throughout the entire set. It was clear these guys knew how to handle a large crowd. Not only did Rossdale interact with the people in front of the stage, but Traynor and Britz also repeatedly connected with the audience.
Musically, it was a bold balancing act between the great old tracks from their first two albums “Sixteen Stone” from 1994 and “Razorblade Suitcase” from 1996 and their latest releases, “The Art Of Survival” from 2022 as well as “I Beat Loneliness”, which had just come out this summer. By the time “Machinehead” kicked in, the entire venue was singing along loudly in unison. You could really see how much fun the band was having, and a massive party unfolded both on and off the stage. The highlight came during “More Than Machines”, when Rossdale grabbed a camera and made his way through the crowd, eventually finishing the song on the grandstand surrounded by fans.
Hats off, this was truly cinematic. The venue shook for the first time that evening, and it was obvious that Bush were in a completely different league compared to Witch Fever earlier. I had never seen them live before, but every single minute was worth it. A clear recommendation: catch them live if you get the chance, it’s a whole different experience than listening on CD or streaming!
