09.10.2010 Blind Guardian

Philipshalle, Düsseldorf (Germany)

(Panasonic DMC-TZ7)

Headliner of the evening was having nearly a home game. The guys around Hansi Kürsch were really keen on playing and also the audience was following them really good. The songs were covering a majority of the musical history of the band, so there were not only songs from the new album "At The Edge Of Time" being played.
The atmopshere was terrific also being supported by the short comments of Hansi between the songs. Especially outstanding was in each case the "Bard's Song" only sung by the crowd that was also recorded by Blind Guardian (I am curious what it will be used for. That was really impressive. Also the song "Valhalla" was on top of the people's ranking. Not only after the song was over the refrain was continued (direct quote of Hansi: "On our ranking you are already at the top-10. But you do not have to think that only by continuing to sing "Valhalla" you will rise further more."). Also inbetween the refrain was repeated again and again. The climax in my point of view was reached during my way back to the main station with the tube. That arrived only filled with some people at the Philipshallen underground station, was completely packed with metal fans and finally loudly "Valhalla" was intonated.
Overall a really gorgeous concert, great atmosphere (according to Hansi we finally made the step forward to position 3), super music, so is there anything you could want more (except to watch more Blind Guardian than the just passed two hours)?
