Metal Female Voices Fest VII

Oktoberhallen Wieze (Belgium)

(Panasonic DMC-TZ7)

The first headliner of this evening was Delain. I saw this band already once and have both CDs at home. But during their last live concert they were not able to persuade me of them. On CD they are a lot better. And also this show was not able to change anything on that.
One reason for this is Charlotte Wessels’ voice that does not really reach me. All in all too weak and average. Also the show was very static and simply rattled down. The pyro’s and video walls couldn’t change that impression either.
During the concert the band additionally anounced that co-singer and guitarist Ronald Landa would leave the band for personal reasons. So, this would be his last gig together with Delain.
It is somehow a pity that this was one of the weakest performances of the festival and it didn’t bother me when the band left the stage after „Pristine“. Maybe this would get better with the new guitarist and if Charlottes voice live performance would enhance. At least if they are not able to at least be as good as on CD they will soon fade into oblivion.
