Metal Female Voices Fest IX

Oktoberhallen Wieze (Belgium)

(Pentax k-x with Tamron SP AF 17-50mm 2.8 XR Di II LD Asp IF and Sigma AF 50-150mm 2.8 EX DC APO HSM II)

After they were guests two years ago already on Metal Female Voices Fest VII the Finnish folk metaller of Kivimetsän Druidi were able to rock the Oktoberhallen again this year.
Optically it was quite a déjà vu as the stage outfit was nearly the same as two years ago and also some songs like the very powerful "Blacksmith" were again in on it. Just like two years ago they brought a little bit more life into the venue. With their fast and powerful metal that is charachterized by Joni Koskinen's growls and Leeni-Maria Hovilas reedy voice there was a lot of movment getting into the crowd in front of the stage. Therefore I have to say that compared to their last gig at MFVF they gained much more class and assurance. Also was their gig way better compared to the one at Paganfest Oberhausen in the beginning of the year.
Leeni-Marias proclivity to these little dances was very limited that day whereas she encouraged on and on the audience to go with them just like bassist Simo Lehtonen did. Somehow the end after "Jaassa Varttunut" came much too early and you would liked to have heared some more songs but the tight schedule of the festival is not offering space for that.

Setlist:

  • Lament For The Fallen
  • Aesis Lilim
  • Seawitch And The Sorcerer
  • Pedon Loitsu
  • Desolation: White Wolf
  • Blacksmith
  • Jaassa Varttunut
