Wacken Open Air XXIII
About Oomph! the three guys from Braunschweig you do not need to make no words about. Already in 1989 the founded to make music together. First mainly in EBM sphere an insider tip they soon changed their musical orientation and got style defining for the Neue Deutsche Härte and by this also examples to szene heroes like e.g. Rammstein. Latest since their single "Augen Auf!" they are well known also to the masses and one chart success is following the other.
More than 20 years they already are making music and with additional live support the crew of Oomph! entered the Party Stage of Wacken. With them they had really all great songs of their band history, starting with the legendary "Augen Auf!" across their scandal song "Gott Ist Ein Popstar" to "Labyrinth". Therefore singer Dero Goi was made up as usual and all hands wearing sailor look on stage. There it was quite crowded as besides Dero there had to find place guitarist Andreas Krap as well as Robert Flux and their live recruitment Hagen on bass, Christian Leonhardt on drums, El Friede on keyboard and last but not least Okusa on percussions. So there was quite a lot going on on stage but it was comparable at the crowd in front of it. And so Dero two times could not stay on stage but without hesitation let himself carry on hands and surf across the crowd.
After the atmosphere after "Augen Auf!" was really boiling unfortunately already the last song formed by the great Monty Python classic from "Life Of Brian": "Always Look On The Bright Side" began. It was a pitty that Oomph! had to start that early as they easily could have played a later and longer slot on one of the main stages. But therefore it was heavily crowded in front of the Party Stage and you saw a band really keen on playing with a great Dero and one had a good feeling of having seen a terrific gig.
