07.02.2012 Alpha Academy

Stahlwerk, Düsseldorf (Germany)

(Olympus XZ-1)

You had to wait for a long time in frostiness in front of the venue until you finally could enter to defreeze. The Stahlwerk was already quite well filled when the guys of the band Alpha Academy from Göttingen entered the stage at 20:00 to fire us up.
Although founded only in 2008 soon their second album "Impossible:Possible" should already be released and from this just as from the predecessor "The Promise Of The Light" rought half an hour of well made rock music was played. Many, including myself, did not know the band beforehand and they were also announced as support act shorttermed. But quickly the audience was taken with the enthusiastic duo namely singer and guitarist Dominik Dubik as well as Sebastian Hunger on bass. The second guitarist Michael Wenski less regarded by the stage lights was painting his own edge of the stage red where he sporadic was whirling like a dervish. Last but not least there was the drummer Niko Tsagarakis working hard on his drum set.
The songs really knew to please although the reactions of the audience was shomehow restricted (except the enthusiasm when a picture was taken which directly afterwards was posted on Facebook and for which all were encouraged to mark themselves that they had joined this concert). As opener and warm-up for the evening they were quite OK. There were already bands playing as openers on concerts that were way worse compared to them.
