It is the third year in a row that the Spanish symphonic metal band Diabulus In Musica thanks to their promoter 2Wild4 is with the festival on one of the main slots. With them they brought their current album "The Wanderer" and their debut "Secrets".
Although the show started as used to with the appearance of the background choir wearing monk's cowls (it's about time that there is developed something new instead) you could obviously hear that the band had made a big step forward. Because here nearly everything was offered: impressive voices, great efforts of all band members and a great atmosphere at the audience. This time it was not only front women Zuberoa Aznarez convincing with a really great voice but she was also playing different flutes inbetween. Keyboarder Gorka Elso provided some grunts. Last but not least on the current album also bassist Alejandro "Alex" Sanz was able to show that he is not only able to do on strings but also was able to persuade during two nice duets with his voice. As already said this show was overcoming the formerly played ones. Inbetween during the song "Oihuka Bihotzetik" they got further support by ex Visions Of Atlantis front women Melissa Verlaak celebrating a veryt intensive duet with Zuberoa.
First I thought: Again Diabulus In Musica, maybe even with the same show although new material is available but now I really have to admit that I was completely wrong. Wow how did they get the crowd moving around. And after the gig not without good reasons encores were requested. The band really developed and is more fun from one show to the other. I hope that the promoters have an understanding and do not try to make a second Epica of them by giving them a break next year so that the good potential is not wearing down.
