Wacken Open Air XXIV

Wacken (Germany)

(Pentax K-5 with Sigma AF 70-200mm 2.8 EX DC APO HSM II)

Being dry again and back at the True Metal Stage there was already a quite impressive crowd waiting for the US trasher of Trivium.
These had transformed the stage into an ice desert and entered to the sounds of "Throes Of Perdition" through the fog. The opener of a really great hour. The audience incredibly going along with the band. Already at "Down From The Sky" all hands are up in the air and you also do not have to wait long time for the crowd surfers. It really was impressive what Matthew Heafy and his guys presented. Great powerful vocals and cool riffs, finally also mixed louder and quite good sounding. Awesome! After a cross section through their present work there were two special moments when Heafy announced the songs "Brave This Storm" and "Strife". These should be on the upcoming album "Vengeance Falls" which will be released in Oktober. I have to say that was not that bad and was generating desires for more. After "A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation" the band left the stage just to come back unter loud cheering of the audience entering encore with "Capsizing The Sea" which was wonderful completed by "Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr".
Personally for me this show was one of the highlights of this years Wacken editino. Trivium knew perfectly to take the crowd with them and to convince with a great and balanced set. Although it was only one hour which was at their disposal. For me a candidate to visit in case they are back here on one of their tours.
