After the rock‑driven sounds of As Everything Unfolds, it was time to move from the small tent to the big one. On the large stage in the Marquee, everything was already shrouded in fog to present the Spanish band Bloodhunter in proper style. They’ve been making music since 2008, though they’re still relatively unknown overall. All the more surprising that they were able to showcase themselves in this setting.
The band around frontwoman Diva Satanica then took the stage with plenty of force, delivering their blend of black, death, and melodic death metal. Alongside their striking vocalist, Dani Arcos, Guillermo Starless, and Daniel Luces handled the strings, while Adrián Perales sat behind his drum kit.
As shown on the backdrop, their latest album "Knowledge Was The Price" from 2022 formed the core of the set. The stage show was minimalist, aside from some fog and dark lighting, it was the musicians themselves who constantly whirled across the stage. The crowd eagerly followed the singer’s invitations and spun through several circle pits of their own. After unfortunately only 45 minutes, Bloodhunter had to say goodbye again.
A thoroughly entertaining performance. Nothing groundbreaking, and with the satanic themes nothing particularly new for this genre. Still, Bloodhunter managed to win me over and delivered a solid set with a decent show. Just the right thing for in between.
