What a show!

At the end of September, it was a premiere for me, because for the first time I wasn’t at the Rudolf-Weber-Arena to watch ice hockey, but for a concert. Quite astonishing, considering that this was more than 20 years after my last ice hockey game. As part of their „Greatest Of All Tours“ Tour, Volbeat stopped there with their entourage.
Originally, GEL was supposed to open the evening, but since there had already been disputes within the band before the tour began, which ultimately led to their breakup, a replacement was needed. That replacement was found in the rather unusual Witch Fever from Great Britain. Not much needs to be said about their performance. Much more, however, about the following band, Bush. Having been on stages around the world since the 1990s, they impressively showed that they hadn’t lost any of the fascination they had in their early days. The audience was completely thrilled.
And that excitement grew even further when the headliner Volbeat dropped the curtain in front of the stage and presented a fine cross-section of their long career. Of course, the album that had just been released right on time for the tour made up a large part of the setlist, but it didn’t dominate. Unfortunately, the little more than 100 minutes flew by, and the guys from Denmark left the stage. Nevertheless, it was a performance that was absolutely worth it. For those who couldn’t see them on this tour, there will be plenty of opportunities next year at various festivals.
